Expanders® builds transportable homes in New Zealand that travel folded at standard 20ft, 30ft or 40ft container dimensions and expand on site to roughly triple the floor area. Layouts run from open-plan through to four bedrooms, priced from $34,000 to $67,125+. Because they travel within legal container width, delivery uses standard HIAB and container transport rather than oversize house-moving contractors, which materially reduces freight cost and site access requirements.
Transport cost is the hidden number
Traditional transportable homes travel as oversize loads. That means permits, pilot vehicles, route planning around power lines and bridges, and often a five-figure delivery bill before the house reaches your gate. Rural and hill-country sites are frequently quoted out entirely.
Because our units fold to legal container width, they move on ordinary transport and land with a HIAB. Sites that couldn't take a conventional transportable home usually can take an Expander®.
Layouts up to four bedrooms
The 40ft range covers one to four bedrooms with a full living area and kitchen. The 30ft is the sweet spot for couples and small families — a genuine lounge plus one to three bedrooms. Luxe variants of every size add upgraded cabinetry, appliances, benchtops and finishes.
Site preparation
You need a level, compacted pad and vehicle access for a truck and HIAB. Piles, connections to water, wastewater and power, and any decking or steps are arranged separately — we'll walk you through the requirements before delivery is booked.
