Refund policy
Last updated: January 11, 2026
This Return & Refund Policy applies to all products supplied by SGW Capital Limited trading as Expanders® (“we”, “us”, “our”).
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Terms of Trade. In the event of any inconsistency, the signed quote, invoice, or contract terms will prevail.
Made-to-Order Products
Most Expanders® units are made to order or configured to customer specifications.
Because of this:
-
We do not accept returns for change of mind
-
We do not offer refunds simply because you no longer wish to proceed
-
Deposits are generally non-refundable once production or procurement has commenced
This does not affect your rights under New Zealand consumer law.
Deposits & Cancellations
Before production begins
If you cancel before production or procurement has commenced, we may, at our discretion, consider a partial or full refund of your deposit, less any costs already incurred (including administration, design, supplier, or logistics costs).
After production begins
Once production, procurement, or allocation has commenced:
-
Cancellations may not be accepted
-
Any deposit paid may be partially or fully non-refundable
-
Refunds are not guaranteed
Specific deposit and cancellation terms will be set out in your quote or invoice.
No Refunds After Delivery
Once a Building has been delivered to your Site or collected from the Expanders® location, no refunds are available under any circumstances, except where required by law.
Exceptional Refunds (Rare)
In rare and exceptional circumstances, we may agree to issue a refund at our sole discretion.
If approved:
-
A restocking fee of 10% of the Price will apply
-
Refunds may take up to 60 days to process, as the unit may need to be re-sold
-
Any delivery, storage, transport, or handling costs incurred will be deducted
Damage & Defects on Delivery
You must inspect the Building immediately upon delivery or collection.
-
Any damage or defects must be reported in writing within 48 hours of Delivery
-
Failure to notify us within this timeframe may result in the Building being deemed accepted in good condition
-
If visible damage is present on delivery, you must not sign for the delivery and must notify us immediately
Photographic evidence is required to support any claim.
Transport & Insurance
Delivery is carried out by a third-party transport company.
-
We are not liable for transport-related damage unless you have purchased TransitCare Protection
-
If TransitCare Protection is purchased:
-
Damage must be reported within 5 days of Delivery
-
Claims require written notice and photographic evidence
-
-
If TransitCare Protection is not purchased:
-
All transport-related risk passes to you once the Building leaves our possession
-
Any claims must be made directly with the transport provider
-
Faulty or Defective Products
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, where applicable.
If a Building has a fault or defect that breaches consumer guarantees:
-
Contact us as soon as reasonably possible
-
We will assess the issue and determine the appropriate remedy (repair, replacement, or refund where required by law)
Non-Returnable Situations
The following are not eligible for return or refund:
-
Change-of-mind purchases
-
Customised or configured units
-
Units that have been installed, modified, or relocated
-
Damage caused by site conditions, improper installation, handling, or maintenance
-
Damage reported outside required inspection timeframes
Assistance With On-Selling
If you choose to on-sell your unit after delivery, we may assist at our discretion.
If assistance is provided:

A 10% service fee will apply
-
You are responsible for all associated delivery, transport, and logistics costs
